12 Things You Didn’t Know About National Treasure Amy Shark
If 'Amy Shark' doesn't ring a bell, we guarantee you've popped your booty to at least one of her tunes in your life.
Her track '"Adore" which ranked number 2 on the Triple J Hottest 100 in 2016, was a worldwide hit charting #3 in AUS and #32 in the US.
As this home grown Aussie heads on the fasttrack to international fame, we have to do something to mark our territory on the ARIA Award winning superstar.
At 32-years-old, Shark has already performed at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony, State of Origin, and has a full AU/NZ/North America tour lined up (got tickets?).
She also has debut album 'Love Monster' that drops July 13, so to celebrate we've put together 12 Things You Didn't Know About National Treasure Amy Shark:
1. Her Real Name Is Amy Louise Billings
She may not be born a Shark, but she's the fiercest singer in the game.
2. She Grew Up On The Gold Coast
When talking about her GC upbringing she said, "you get to grow up in a different way, without the hustle and bustle of a city vibe."
Shark hasn't strayed too far from her roots, still residing in the north in Broadbeach Waters with her husband Shane.
3. She Was A Video Editor For The Gold Coast Titans
It wasn't too long ago that Shark was working 9-5 as an editor for the NRL team.
However, one day Amy just said 'f*ck it', quit her job, and found her way into the hearts of millions.
4. She Went To School With Ricki-Lee Coulter
In an interview with SBS, Shark said that in high school her BFF was Australian Idol Ricki-Lee, but that "no one would dare sing if you couldn't sing like her."
Shark also said that the two would hang out in the school music room and write songs.
5. She's Not Always A Fan Of The Music Industry
Shark hasn't made it a secret how much she dislikes the business side of music.
In an interview with Young Vagabod, she said:
"I hate the music industry! I hate everything about it," she told them. "It's a constant challenge. The biggest rollercoaster I have ever been on. There's so much politics. The reason [earlier song] "Spits on Girls" is as good as it is, is because I just don't care anymore. I don't care about tours. I don't care about labels. I just want to write cool songs, the way I want to write them. The minute you can focus on that and not give a shit about fame, that is the best medicine."
6. She gets high...on song writing
When we asked about her music, Shark said that when she writes its a "bizarre feeling," and that the process gives her an "out of body experience."
7. She's Performed On James Cordon & Jimmy Fallon
Well, not physically on them, but she has performed on their shows.
In 2017, Shark was featured on The Late Late Show With James Cordon performing "Adore". She then returned and performed again on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March.
Not a lot of artists can add that one to their resume!
8. She Was On The Love Simon Soundtrack
In March of this year Shark contributed the song "Sink In" to the motion picture soundtrack of award winning film 'Love Simon'. The album went on to chart at 37 on the Billboard 200.
When we asked her what she thought about that iconic moment she told us, "it was like it was a dream, it was such a dream."
You go girl!
9. She's Not Afraid To Let Her Uber Driver Know Wassup
Handing out 1 star Uber ratings like nobody's business ! Can you not even say hi?

If you're ever being attacked by a Shark, try saying hi first.
10. She Loves Supporting Other Women
When we questioned Shark on other Aussie women in music, she said that she loves "watching other artists grow."
As a proud supporter of women empowerment Shark feels as though, "girls are just ruling the world right now."

11. She's Currently Re-Doing Her Bathroom
That's right, we've got the exclusive on this.
Stay tuned though, we're working on getting the tea on tiling, bath type, and whether or not she has a polymarble shower base.
12. She Has Just Been Announced As The First Female Artist For Australia's MTV Unplugged
We can't imagine a better fit! Amy Shark will be performing songs of her upcomig album Monster Love, at Meat Markets' Cobblestone Pavilion on the 26th of July.
When we asked what we can expect, Shark said that she is excited to play her songs, "raw and acoustic, which is my favorite way to play them because that's how they were written."
Get ready guys, we are definitely in the presence of something great!
